Overview

This workshop is geared for anyone who uses their voice at work (Barristers, Teachers, Broadcasters, those who give presentations etc.) for anyone who is interested in improving their voice and for anyone who is seeking to improve their public speaking skills. It will offer: clarity of thought and speech, greater physical and vocal presence, better breath support, tools to strengthen your voice, ways to increase the range and carrying power of your voice, guidelines on how to keep your voice healthy and a greater sense of confidence when public speaking.

Participants are advised to bring with them at least one speech so that they can practice during the day. Cathal Quinn, Head of Voice at The Lir Academy and tutor of The Clear and Confident Voice will have a number of sample speeches that can be used but it is always beneficial to have your own work prepared in advance.

Acceptance onto the course is at the discretion of The Lir. If The Lir feels for whatever reason that they are not suitable for the course, he/she will not be accepted. All decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

  • Fluency in the English language is essential.
  • A commitment to punctuality, discipline and preparation is required from every participant.
  • Information on what to wear etc. will be sent to successful applicants once they have been accepted onto the course.

It is strongly recommended that all participants insure themselves to cover the loss of fees in the event of illness, for which The Lir cannot accept any liability.

The full course fee is payable as acceptance of an offer of a place on the course.


In the event of a cancellation more than one month prior to the course start date, a forfeiture of €250 (on courses priced at €1,000+) or the total course fee (on courses priced below €1,000) will be retained to cover administration costs. 

A withdrawal less than one month before the course start date will result in the forfeiture of the entire fee.
