Overview

Tuition is available from The Lir’s resident tutors including:

Cathal Quinn – Voice and Speech
Gavin O’Donoghue – Voice and Dialect
Sue Mythen – Movement/Character Creation/Gestural Work/Body Quality/Breath
Bryan Burroughs – Movement and Physical Theatre

Participants are advised to contact The Lir beforehand outlining their requirements so that each class can be designed according to their needs. Classes can be booked individually but in most cases 3-5 sessions are advised.

These classes are not suitable for students who are considering applying to an Academy of Dramatic Art, we have a number of short courses that are tailored to students who want to pursue a career in acting.

Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Please note: A minimum number of participants are required for all workshops to proceed.

Acceptance onto the course is at the discretion of The Lir. If The Lir feels for whatever reason that they are not suitable for the course, he/she will not be accepted. All decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Due to the high demand for Lir courses applicants may be held on a waiting list.

  • Fluency in the English language is essential.
  • A commitment to punctuality, discipline and preparation is required from every participant.
  • Information on what to wear etc. will be sent to successful applicants once they have been accepted onto the course.

It is strongly recommended that all participants insure themselves to cover the loss of fees in the event of illness, for which The Lir cannot accept any liability.

The full course fee is payable as acceptance of an offer of a place on the course.


In the event of a cancellation more than one month prior to the course start date, a forfeiture of €250 (on courses priced at €1,000+) or the total course fee (on courses priced below €1,000) will be retained to cover administration costs. 

A withdrawal less than one month before the course start date will result in the forfeiture of the entire fee.
