Overview

Designed by Roger Evans, The Lir Academy’s Director of Short Courses and delivered by The Lir Academy’s Short Course tutor team, these Saturday acting classes will focus on the core elements of acting training delivered at The Lir Academy.

Please note that the Term 3 class only runs for 6 weeks in order to accomodate students who have school exams.

This course has been created as an introduction to what it means to be an actor, it includes elements of our full-time course such as voice, movement, improvisation and text-based work whilst also concentrating on fun and play. We focus on creating an environment where we take the work seriously but not ourselves. This is a place where we build confidence through playfulness, in a secure, caring environment where its not only a safe place to fail but a necessary part of what it means to be a good actor.

This course will provide a good foundation to move on to the next level. The primary objective of the 12-14 course is to find the joy in acting and create confidence in the performer through acting.

The Lir Youth Academy runs over each academic year and will be split into terms running:

  • September - December - 10 weeks
  • January – March - 10 weeks
  • April – May - 6 weeks
