Lighting Design for Dance

Liz Roche Company, Dance Ireland and The Lir Academy are collaborating!
Lighting Design for Dance is a project which brings together choreographers with lighting and costume design students from the Lir Academy's MFA in Stage Design in a creative and supported performance forum. This project grew out of an informal and ongoing relationship between Liz Roche and The Lir Academy on new lighting design projects created by the MFA students specialising in lighting. The potential to develop this into a much wider professional development opportunity was recognised and as a result, Dance Ireland were approached to join the creative collaboration. All three organisations are delighted to be working together to bring choreographers and lighting designers into a practical and supported space for the development of their skills and new ideas. Following an open call, choreographers Dagmara Jerzak, Justine Cooper and Lucia Kickham are using the space provided to them by Dance Ireland to begin the process where they will work with The Lir Academy MFA students Isreal Negrao, Johann Fitzpatrick, Danielle Donnally and Fenna Von Hirschheydt under the mentorship of Liz Roche.
