Q: What will people learn on the course?
A: This course is designed to take writers to the next level and prepare them for industry standards. Participants will deepen their understanding of structure, character, and storytelling, while developing work that is ready for the next step in their career.

Q: What kinds of people participate in the course?
A: Writers who have completed a beginner or Level 1 screenwriting course, or those with some prior experience in screenwriting, playwriting, or storytelling.

Q: What experience do people need?
A: Participants should have some experience in writing e.g. screenwriting, theatre, or another form, along with a basic understanding of story structure.

Q: Tell us about your own experience and how you developed your writing skills and what has helped you?
A: I’ve been a professional writer since 2017 when I wrote a one-person play. I went on to be part of the Hampstead Theatre Writers’ Group as well as the BBC Writers’ Room.

More recently, I’ve been developing original TV ideas with production companies, and I am currently represented by a writing agent. My development has come through a combination of practice, collaboration, and learning from industry professionals. I want to share the tools of the trade when it comes to writing software, story arc, character building and finding an agent.

Q: What would you tell someone who was wondering if this course was for them but wasn’t sure or nervous about joining?
A:
I’d say that’s exactly who the course is for. It’s a supportive, welcoming environment where you can develop your skills without pressure. Everyone comes in at a different stage, and the focus is on learning, experimenting, and building confidence. If you’re curious about screenwriting and ready to take the next step, you’ll be in the right place.
