The Lir Presents… Opera Briefs

The Lir presents… Opera Briefs The Lir, the National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin and Ireland’s oldest music institution, The Royal Irish Academy of Music, are pleased to announce an exciting new production partnership. The partnership will see both organisations work closely together in the presentation of opera in Dublin in the coming months. Opera Briefs, a series of short opera productions at The Lir, will afford Irish audiences the opportunity to experience first-hand the next generation of Irish opera singers and stage technicians in December, 2012 and March and May, 2013. The Opera Briefs project is an example of the growing collaboration between Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Irish Academy of Music that builds on each institution’s expertise for the benefit of the performing arts. Led by some of Ireland finest opera conductors, directors and designers, the partnership also brings together significant musical and theatrical expertise from both organisations. The cast is drawn from singing students of the RIAM, whilst Stage Management and Technical Theatre students from The Lir Academy will work on the set construction and costume realisation for all seven short operas. Over the coming months students will benefit from the expertise of leading Irish directors Gavin Quinn, Tom Creed and Conor Hanratty, opera conductors David Adams and Andrew Synott and, amongst others, award-winning designers Joe Vanek and Sinéad McKenna.
