Barry McEvoy is an actor and writer. Born in Belfast, he has acted on stage and in film in Ireland and the US, including the role of Fred in the US premiere of Harold Pinter’s Moonlight at the Roundabout Theatre in New York. He wrote and acted in the film An Everlasting Piece, directed by Barry Levinson, for which he was chosen as a Variety Magazine Screenwriter to Watch. Other notable film roles include; Veronica Guerin, Gettysburg, Five Minutes of Heaven and Gloria, directed by Sidney Lumet. He has performed in plays by Brian Friel, Wendy Wasserstein, John Osborne, WB Yeats, Conor McPherson and Vaclav Havel. He was the singer for Washington DC hardcore punk band Phlegm and also briefly the tour van driver for Reggae Dancehall singer Eek-a-Mouse. The Letterist is his first full-length play.
